Book Format – The Way it Works for You

The reason for this book’s success is it’s unique design layout. You no longer do you have to read pages and chapters, like in other event planning books, to get the information you need. Instead this book is designed for easy quick-reference. Let’s take an example:

Cocktail parties are the most common type of event with hundreds of thousands of them annually in the United States. So let’s examine how this book handles this subject.

Step 1.

Since all the elements used in an event are arranged alphabetical in the first part of the book, look under the C’s for “cocktail party.” You’ll notice that there are two types, one is “cocktail party” and the second is “cocktail reception”. There is a big difference between the two, so it important to read both and decide which of these events you actually want.

Next you’ll see small pencil icons at the end of the description. This icon means “take note of these tips in planning”. Preceded by a check icon each “tip” quickly gives you the essence of how to treat key elements of the event.

Step 2.

A small clipboard icon located at the bottom of the tips tells you where in the book you will find additional relevant information regarding this subject. These items are in the “Tables and Techniques” section of the book. For example, how to best layout the room for the event. You then turn to the page indicated to see diagrams of different of room layouts depending on if you are serving hor d’oeuvre or having entertainment, etc.

Step 3.

Additional clipboard icons on these pages direct you to other pages that offer even more pertinent information for the cocktail event, such as the quantity of liquors required, setting the theme, decorating and more.

Throughout the book you are constantly reminded that an event is really a show. Therefore, the event must be treated like a show to keep your audience interested and excited. A show has a beginning, middle and an end, each requiring planning consideration. And, so should your event!
