“I have not seen a compilation of this type so in many ways it presents a great industry primer, written by someone with tremendous experience.”
Reviews
This is an excellent book.
It approaches events as if they are a show to be put on for people. I like that perspective. It is simple and to the point and I especially love the glossary and how it points out synonyms for words. Excellent, excellent book.
A must-have guide for any size event!
“I purchased the book when it first came out. It is an invaluable how-to guide on organizing any event – from private parties to public galas. It’s a well-organized reference source that gets to the point in a simple and understandable format. No bs, just the clear instructions. The author is one of the world’s most experienced event planners. He has done it all, so you’re getting info straight from the horse’s mouth. As a partner in an entertainment consultant company, I refer to this guide for both professional and personal events. It gets my 100% endorsement.”
“I have been teaching a Meeting and Event Planning and Management professional education course at a college in NJ for 7 years. I would recommend this book to my students.”
This dense reference provides and extensive glossary of terms as they are used in the event planning industry, notated with tips for designing specific aspects of an event in different settings. Supplemental tables explain food and beverage calculation, wine types, exhibit booth layout, centerpieces, flag protocol, invitations, proper forms of address, place settings, napkin folds, seating charts, room layout and press kits.
“The best and most readable work I’ve ever seen on event planning. Extremely helpful for planning and executing events of all sizes and for audiences of all types. I can’t imagine anyone responsible for implementing successful programs and events not having this book in their hip pocket.”

Great reference handbook. Recommend it!
Needed, When I needed it
“A very helpful book. I was surprised as to how quickly I found the information I needed. I picked my subject, such as cocktail party. After reading the great tips, I was guided to charts for room layout, then to quantities of beverages and on. I didn’t have to read pages of useless information to find what I wanted to know. As an experience event planner, I still found plenty of new information. Excellent handbook.”
“Written by the founder and director of the Miziker Entertainment Group in Los Angeles, this book packs an enormous amount of valuable information into more than 450 pages in a title compact enough to be truly portable. . . . This excellent and extensive guide will be useful to event planners, students studying hospitality or related fields, or anyone planning an event. Highly recommended.”
“Particularly relevant for hospitality collections, this work will also be useful for amateurs responsible for event planning.”
